Centro Cultural Cubano Scholarship

for

Spanish Majors

2008-2009 Academic Year

This annual scholarship was established in December 2004 by  Centro Cultural Cubano of San Antonio to encourage the study of the Spanish language and culture.

Award: $1,000 tuition credit, awarded $500 in the fall and $500 in the spring. The spring award is contingent upon maintaining a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and continued full-time enrollment (minimum of 12 semester credit hours).

 

Qualifications and Selection Process:

Must be a student enrolled on a full-time basis (minimum of 12 semester credit hours) as an undergraduate and completed at least 48 hours by the semester in which the scholarship will be first disbursed.

Must have declared a major in Spanish.

 

Must have an overall cumulative G.P.A. of at least 3.0, based on a 4.0 scale.

 

 

Among equally qualified applicants, preference will be given to students demonstrating a need for financial assistance as determined by the Office of Student Financial Aid.

 

Application Requirements:

Completed Centro Cultural Cubano Scholarship application, including a 300-word essay in Spanish addressing interest in the study of the Spanish language, and a 100-or-more-word essay in English addressing a financial need for the scholarship. One letter of recommendation from a university professor who is familiar with the applicant’s academic work.
