Fourth Annual Conference on Women Writers of Late Medieval and Early Modern Spain and Colonial Latin America

We hope you will come join us!

We have an exciting program that will begin on Thursday morning and conclude Saturday afternoon. In addition to traditional sessions, we will have three "Talleres" in which workshop leaders will present concise position papers and lead discussion:

Taller I: Feminist Theory
Taller II: Transatlantic Connections: Women on Both Sides of the Atlantic.
Taller III: Recovering Her Story: Archival Research on Women

Annette Kolodny, renowned feminist theorist and scholar, will deliver the keynote address "Keeping Women in the Curriculum, on the Faculty and in the Administration: Reshaping the Academy for the 21st Century." Her talk will address several of the crucial issues that surfaced at the pedagogy round-table and at several discussions during last year's conference.

When you arrive at the airport, look for the ARIZONA STAGECOACH desk and make arrangements for your round trip. Your shuttle will leave within fifteen minutes after you contact the dispatcher.

SYLLABI PROJECT

We would like to establish a "Syllabi Bank" to help generate ideas for courses on these women writers. If you have a syllabus you would like to share, send either an electronic copy or a hard copy to Lisa Vollendorf at the Department of Romance Languages, Wayne State University, Detroit MI 48202. We will post and distribute copies to conference participants and on this web-site. THANKS!!

IN SEARCH OF A NAME

We have a great group, but an unwieldy name. (Just try filling out all the forms required to set up a conference with our current appellation!). We're looking for a great name and/or handy acronym. Please submit ideas to Amy Williamsen (preferably by fax: 520-621-6104). If your suggestion is selected by the steering committee and you attend the conference, you may even win a prize (in addition to our eternal gratitude).
