The cinemas of the European nations exist in a constantly shifting force field: Big–budget blockbusters from U.S. production seek to claim an ever larger market share; funding often depends on the whims and priorities of
government agencies; regional and national stories search for an international audience; cultural authenticity is
often tied to a language of limited geographic and market range; and the aesthetic and topical priorities that are
central at home may be marginal elsewhere.

The San Antonio Film Forum places 12 European films at the center of attention for four days. Through 24 film screenings and three open discussion sessions with scholars, critics and film professionals, the forum brings
the contemporary cinema of France, Germany, Italy, and Spain to San Antonio.
